Carmens is a local legend and started as the Tamarack Tea House, at the local East Kingston Train station. The owners moved the building to Monahan’s Corner, the junction of route 107 and 108.
When ownership changed the name was created in honor of the owners wife “Carmen” and the legend for the best fried chicken was born.
It was well known to Boston citizens, and visited by the Red Sox players on occasion.
After the passing of the “Carmens” family, the restaurant was bought by the Dunlop family , local residents, and with the help of the Town of East Kingston, a new building was put up and painted bright red in honor of “Carmen”.
The restaurant is a bright and lively place, "where the elite meet to eat”, and open 5 days a week.
Please come and enjoy our traditional Carmens chicken, rated the best in New England, and help continue to build the legend.
